Treatment Of Diarrhoea

Diarrhea is a condition that refers to the frequent passage of watery stools. In case of diarrhea, water is not absorbed in the small intestines, and not excreted in excess. Diarrhea can be either acute or chronic, and it is commonly known as loose motions. Diarrhea can be extremely infectious, and it is very common among children and women, especially those who live in unhygienic conditions.

In diarrhea, the liquid that is received by the small intestines from the secretions produced by the other organs like the stomach, liver, intestines, and the pancreas, is sent to the colon that has a limited capacity for liquids.

When the colon receives more water than it can hold, a person has frequent urge to defecate.

Overeating or eating of the wrong kinds of foods can usually cause diarrhea. Other causes include parasites, virus, germs, emotional stress, and bacteria. There are many organic diseases that may affect the intestines. Treatment for diarrhea stresses on maintaining hydration in the body. Although there are some medical treatments, most people prefer natural remedies for diarrhea.

Here are some popular home remedies for diarrhea:

• Buttermilk can not only help regain the disturbed electrolyte balance but also improve hydration. Buttermilk is the milk that is obtained from churning curd. Buttermilk taken with a pinch of salt can control the disease by overcoming any harmful flora in the intestines.
• One of the oldest home remedies for diarrhea is carrot soup. Carrots are rich in nutrients, and the soup of carrot not only supplies fluids to combat dehydration but also helps maintain the electrolyte balance in the body. The nutrients present in carrot soup can also overcome any kind of inflammation in the intestines.
• The leaves and seeds of fenugreek are excellent for the treatment of diarrhea. Boil a teaspoon of the fenugreek seeds, and when they are soft, fry them in a small amount of butter. Consume these seeds along with buttermilk and a pinch of salt. This is one of the most effective cures for diarrhea.
• Another one of the useful home remedies of diarrhea is ginger. Both dry and fresh ginger is useful for diarrhea. You can take dry powder or paste of ginger and consume it with a small amount of unprocessed sugar. Together, ginger, and unprocessed sugar bring relief and help to reduce the severity of the symptoms. The combination is carminative and stimulates the gastrointestinal tract to aid digestion.
• Mint Juice has been known to be an effective remedy for many ailments of the digestive system. The juice is also beneficial in the treatment of diarrhea. Simply crush a handful of mint leaves and extract their juice. Mix this mint juice with honey and lime juice in equal quantities. Drink this juice three times a day to treat your digestive distress.
• Most home remedies for diarrhea attempt to regain the hydration of the body. The juice of bottle gourd can also be used to treat excessive thirst that one may experience when suffering from diarrhea. Get a glass of plain juice and drink it with a pinch of salt every morning. Although this may not taste very good, but this is one of the best home remedies for diarrhea.
