ADVICE ON APPETITE: WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN APPETITE WHEN YOU WAKE UP

We all tend to look for quick-fix methods to deal with our problems and this attitude has caused the increase in appetite suppression medications to combat obesity and weight related problems. Obesity has been linked to the increase in our fast food and junk food consumption. The combination of this unhealthy and high-calorie diet along with little or no exercise causes immense weight gain. If your diet and exercise habits have been the cause of your weight gain, you will need to take appropriate steps to deal with your problem. A healthy balanced diet along with a suitable exercise schedule will help to get rid of the excess pounds.

In some severe cases, however, the doctor may recommend appetite suppression medication as a temporary and complementary method of weight loss. However, it is important to always keep in mind that these medications should only be taken after consulting your doctor as self medication with appetite suppression drugs is very dangerous and can have very serious side effects.

On the other side of the scale, however, are a set of individuals that would like to increase the amount of food they consume, but are seemingly unable to do so because of the fact that they have a very low appetite. The kind of food you consume will play a huge role in how much of it one can eat. Moreover, it also plays a very significant role in how healthy a person is. For instance, just because a person appears to eat only small quantities of food, he or she can still be perfectly fit as long as the food consumed contains all the required carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. Moreover, consuming foods that are high in fiber content will ensure that the individual feels full much faster than when consuming most other types of food.

Unwanted appetite suppression can be caused by a number of factors such as depression, stress or even worrying. If you find that you have less of an appetite than is usual, it could be a temporary phase or a chronic condition that may even require some psychiatric help to heal. Exercise is one of the best natural appetite stimulants and simply going for a walk could increase your appetite significantly before a meal. Simply adding a little cinnamon to your food could do wonders as it is one of the most effective natural appetite stimulants. As mentioned earlier, foods that have a high fiber content are likely to make you feel full faster. As a result, you might want to reduce the amount of fibrous food you eat to make sure that you leave room for other foods. Another method of increasing your appetite naturally would be to eat just before you go to bed. This practice helps increase the release of insulin and stimulates the appetite. Doing this will also simultaneously increase your metabolism.

Poor Appetite Advice

Poor appetite can lead to fewer intakes of calories and thus may supply fewer nutrients in return when the choices made are wrong. Try the following tips to increase your appetite in general and also when you wake up in the morning.

  • Have moderate fiber diet, don't emphasize on fiber too much as fiber stays in the stomach for a longer time delaying the stomach emptying and thus provides a feeling of fullness.
  • Emphasize on starchy carbohydrates like white rice, potatoes, pastas, and bread. It is easy to eat more starchy carbohydrates thereby more calorie intake in return.
  • Fruit juice also gives simple carbohydrates and drinking just a cup of a fruit juice half hour before a meal can cause a quick rise in blood sugar levels due to presence of simple carbohydrates followed by a rapid decline which in turn triggers appetite. So when you wake up in the morning you can start your day with a cup of fruit juice and then after 30 minutes have breakfast with 2-3 slices of bread along with glass milk.
  • Over eat at night before sleeping and you will have a great appetite in the morning when you wake up. This is due to release of insulin in large quantities which is also considered as an appetite stimulating hormone that stretches your stomach and elevates the metabolism.
  • Add artificial sweeteners in your diet. Although sweeteners have fewer calories they stimulate the body to release insulin which in turn helps in increasing the appetite.
  • Some herbs and spices with bitter flavor tend to improve the appetite by stimulating the flow of saliva and digestive juices which speeds digestion and trigger hunger.
