Health advice on headache

I am frequently suffering from one side headache from last 15 yrs,the pain shifts from right to left side .

Headache Cause and Cures 

Some of the common triggers of headaches include stress, weather changes, lack of sleep, strong odors, bright light, hunger, and certain foods. Many people are sensitive to certain food and simply eliminating that food from the diet would help a lot. Certain food may affect your brain chemistry by changing the size of the blood vessels in the brain causing headaches. Some of the most important triggers include alcohol (especially red wine), excessive caffeine, aged cheese, chocolates and food additives like monosodium glutamate, sulfites and nitrites. Make a note of the things which you eat each time a headache is triggered.


Then consider eliminating those from your diet. Reintroduce again after 2 months and if it again causes problem then try to avoid it completely. Include omega-3 fatty acids in the diet in the form of fish or flaxseeds, as this may help to decrease the frequency of getting headaches. Avoid sudden changes in your diet and eat everything in moderation. Certain foods help to prevent a headache like peppermint, ginger, cayenne pepper, fish oil, foods rich in calcium and magnesium like spinach, broccoli and kale. Try not to stay hungry for a long period of time as this will tend to lower the blood sugar levels in the body which means less glucose (main brain food) is available for the brain to function well. Also low blood glucose can cause high blood pressure due to release of certain hormones which can further cause a headache.
