Diet to Stay Healthy

A balanced diet is referred to as a healthy diet pattern. It encompasses all the essential nutrients required by the system, in addition to fibre and salts. A balanced diet provides all the nutrients, such as carbohydrate, protein, fat, minerals and vitamins. All the five nutrients are provided in a single meal. Carbohydrates provide the required energy, whereas proteins are essential for repair of tissues and their growth.

Fats are also a source of energy and help in the absorption and digestion of fat soluble vitamins.

Vitamins are required in miniscule levels for the functioning of the intestines and other metabolic functions. Fibre helped in intestinal functioning and provides bulk to the stools. Fluid intake is also considered. Water is important for the performance and functioning of the bowels and kidneys. About six to eight glasses of water is recommended every day. Adjustments in a healthy diet are made based on the incidence of any severities, such as obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension and so on. Tips in following a healthy diet include

  • Usage of whole grains and cereal
  • Bright and fresh vegetables and fruits and not tinned ones
  • Low fat dairy products
  • Animal proteins with chicken, fish eggs and lean meat
  • Monounsaturated fats and poly unsaturated fats from oils.
