- Appetite suppressants contains the above mentioned stimulants and also other ingredients like citrimax and conjugated linoleic acid which together help to stimulate the sympathetic system and suppress the appetite. Common side effects noted with these are nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal distress like bloating and heart burn. It can also cause a serious side effect like heart valve damage and Phen-Phen.
- Absorption blockers have substances which block the absorption of carbohydrates and fats in the intestines. Studies have shown iron and copper loss from the body of a person using these pills. Also if fat is not absorbed then the fat soluble vitamins required for various functions in the body are also not being absorbed.
