GM diet

The GM diet is a 7 day diet program that was developed by the management of General Motors in the mid 1980’s. The aim of this diet was to improve the overall health of their employees. It is known that a healthy work force is a more efficient work force and this thinking is what led to the development of the GM diet. The GM diet was also tested before it was made available to the employees of the company. Once the diet was launched, it became available in all the cafeterias at the General Motors plants.

An overweight person is unfit and will therefore not be able to perform many tasks that a fitter person might be able to. Weight gain is often associated with a depressed state of mind which also contributes poorly to employee morale. The General Motors diet was designed to boost the morale of the work force and eliminate as much as 17 pounds of weight in just one week. The logic behind the General Motors diet is that it helps to provide foods that boost metabolism without boosting the calorie intake. What therefore happens is that the body needs to access its fat reserves in order to perform the physical tasks during any particular day.

The GM diet recommends 10 glasses of water per day. On the first day, it recommends a whole range of fruits except for bananas. Melons are preferred over other fruits. The second day of the diet is purely vegetable based. Subjects are made to each as much as they can and are allowed to choose the vegetables that suit their palate. The third day is a combination of fruits and vegetables. Potatoes and bananas must be excluded from this diet. The fourth day provides a subject with bananas, up to eight of them every day and with three glasses of milk. Day five is a day when red meat and tomatoes are preferred. Acidity can be alleviated by consuming more water than normal. Any person suffering from chronic acidity should not try the GM diet in the first place and must seek medical attention for acidity. The sixth day combines beef and vegetables. This is a fun day when any amount of food can be consumed. The final seventh day consists of brown rice, fruit juices and vegetables.

The GM diet is considered to be extremely radical as it is a strange mix of foods. However, it has been known to work as long as it is combined with a full day’s work that includes some amount of physical labor.

Consuming tomatoes to release acidity problems is the last thing that you should have resorted to, as tomatoes are known to aggravate acidity issues. I would strongly advise you to get the recommendation of your family doctor or medical practitioner on the diet that you are currently following. Under no circumstances should you initiate or embark upon a diet without the consultation of a medical expert, especially if you are prone to bowel disorders and experiencing any form of ailment. The GM diet is not recommended for people with stomach disorders, and especially in the case of acidity problems eating only one particular type of food can result in further damage. If you are seeking to lose weight through the GM diet, I would strongly advise you to discontinue the diet and get onto a healthy weight loss program only after you have been cleared in a medical examination and strict supervision and guidance of a dietician. However, the need of the hour is to correct the current ailment that you are going through and rectify it. Acidity issues can continue for a very long period of time and one must take extreme caution and care with regards to diets and food. All kinds of sour fruits such as lemons and tomatoes are strictly forbidden for those experiencing acidity problems, and in your case it seems like you have aggravated the issue by consuming only one particular food the entire day.

Opt for a wide range of nutritious foods in limited amounts. Ideally you should include a good deal of fresh green vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, and low-fat or fat-free dairy products as well as lean fish, lean meat, skinless poultry and egg whites. In order to control acidity, limit your consumption of fat and sugars. Keep away from high fat meals and foods that cause acid to secrete in the stomach. Always maintain food quantities to as minimum as possible as overeating can make the stomach to secrete increased acids thus aggravating the already inflamed stomach tissues. do not sleep immediately after a meal, try to walk around or maintain an upright position for at least 15 to 20 minutes after eating. also stay away from sour yoghurt, milk based products, cheese, tea, soft drinks, aerated colas, coffee as these food and drink items can tend to inflame the condition further. Completely eliminate alcohol from your diet for at least three to six months. Food items such as apples, bananas, dates, and figs are known to cool the inflamed stomach tissues and are highly recommended as part of your diet to control acidity.
