Type of Foods for Weight Gain
Weight gain foods can be selected according to the needs of the individual, food patterns and liking of the individual. The main objectives for weight gain foods are o give foods that are highly calorific, healthy, and larger than normal portions. Apart from having three large meals have heavy snacks and beverages that can boost up the calorie thus increase the weight accordingly.
There are certain points that need to be remembered for preparing weight gain foods:-
- Eat frequently instead of three meals.
- Avoid consuming plain foods like add dressing to salads, smearing jam, honey or butter on the bread or wheat pancake, honey into the bowl of corn flakes.
- Drink beverages that are calorific like milkshakes, juices, milk instead of water, coffee or tea.
- Prefer high dense foods like starchy vegetables, sweets, ice creams, nuts and oilseeds.
- Regular weight training is essential for developing the muscles rather than fat.

Fats that contain omega 3 fatty acids like salmon, tuna, walnuts and flax. Proteins like beans, groundnuts, pulses, eggs, milk. Carbohydrates like starchy cereals, whole grains, fruits.
Protein powder and supplements can be added to enhance the caloric quality of the foods. Addition of flax seed oil and psyllium is essential for omega 3 fatty acids and fiber.
Have 5 to 6 meals a day.
Training exercise like weight lifting, cycling and swimming can be useful for muscle development and avoidance of fat stores.
