Hair Removal

What are the natural methods for Hair Removal? Thanks in advance for your answers?
(October 11, 2010)

Hair is found all over the human body. Hair is thicker or thinner at different parts of the body. Most modern trends suggest that it is desirable for people to get rid of body hair from certain parts of the body. This is particularly applicable for women as it is considered unfashionable for women to have hair on certain parts of the body. The arms and legs are particularly important when it comes to hair removal.

Hair occurs naturally around the body and is often useful for preserving body heat. In modern conditions, this is not such an issue or consideration for the individual. It is therefore desirable to get rid of hair from these parts of the body. Many women, and men, also seek to have their eyebrows trimmed or shaped so that they are more appealing. The term natural hair removal is a little bit of a paradox because under natural conditions one’s hair would grow uncontrolled. However, one can apply this classification of natural hair removal to methods that use naturally occurring products or manual techniques. The use of chemicals, synthetic substances and machine operated methods of hair removal are considered as non-natural hair removal techniques.

One of the most commonly applied natural hair removal methods is the use of wax. One can purchase synthetic wax but many people feel that natural wax is better as it does not damage the skin. The method of waxing is painful and some people avoid it for this reason. The wax liquid is warmed and applied to the skin using a spatula or similar device. A cloth is then placed on the wax and pressed onto the skin so that it is in contact with the skin along its whole length. The cloth is then ripped off in a direction against the hair growth. This action is quite painful but the individual gets used to it over a period of time.

Sugaring is another natural hair removal process. This process is similar to waxing but uses a sugar solution rather than wax. Many women prefer this method as the sugar liquid tends not to attach to the skin and simply allows adhesion to the hairs. This means that the skin will not be pulled as the hair is being removed. This method may not work with stubborn hair or thick hair growth and may need to be repeated once or twice.

Another natural hair removal method is threading. This is a precise method used for areas where small amounts of hair need to be removed. The eyebrows and the upper lip area are places where threading is used. Threading can be extremely accurate but is difficult and requires a trained hand for it to be performed. Finally, another mechanical method can be used for hair removal and this is tweezing. Tweezers can be used to remove individual hairs from areas on the face or from areas where stray hairs are left behind. This is easier than threading although it may be painful if the tweezers are not handled properly.

Natural Remedies to Remove Hair

A beauty of women is enhanced by having a perfect figure, an intelligent mind and a polite attitude. Apart from this the beauty is enhanced when we take care of ourselves regularly. Facial massages, hair treatments, manicure and pedicure are being done regularly so that the women look attractive. In addition, women tend to remove unwanted hair. Unwanted hair is that hair present on the legs, arms, underarms, bikini line and face. Some women may go in for temporary hair removal technique while some may go in for permanent hair removal technique like laser therapy. Some of the natural techniques used are waxing, threading, tweezing, sugaring, shaving, buffing are some of the methods available for removing unwanted hair.

Waxing, threading, tweezing and sugaring tend to pull the hair out. Shaving and buffing tend to scrape the hair off. The various methods of hair removal are as follows:-

  • Waxing: Waxing is technique which pulls the hair off. It can be painful initially but then you will get used to it. This can also pull a section of skin along with the hair which can lead to redness and irritation. This method is affordable and can be done at home and salon. Apply warmed wax on the skin. Place the cloth on the wax and rub the cloth so that the cloth gets adhered to the wax and pull off quickly at the opposite direction of the hair growth. This method is cost effective.
  • Sugaring: A very common ingredient is used. Sugaring is done only on the hair and the skin is being spared. Sugar is applied on the skin and the cloth is used to pull off the hair. This method is also painful and post moisturizing treatment is needed after sugaring.
  • Threading: This method is cost effective but it can be done only in small areas like around the eyes. This also needs a skilled professional who can do this job neatly and with great speed. This method needs a cotton thread that is being rolled and twisted on the skin that lifts and pulls the hair gently from the roots.
  • Tweezing: This is an old and inexpensive method. It doesn’t hurt so much and it can be carried on any part of the body.
  • Shaving: This technique requires a razor and natural shaving cream. The cream is applied on the skin and shaved with a razor. However it is not long lasting as it removes hair only from the surface level of the skin.
  • Buffing: This method is less commonly used but it is inexpensive. A buff mitt is rubbed on the skin. It works well for fine hair but it is not long lasting.
