Benefits Of GM Diet

Given the fact that obesity and weight loss is a widespread concern all over the world, it is easy to understand why some people are taking their weight a little more seriously. The fact that a number of people are under the impression that the most telling effect that the condition has on a  persons life is limited to the impact that it has on his or her aesthetic appeal shows that there is a lot of misinformation floating around that causes a significant amount of ignorance to the extent to which the condition can affect the individuals lifestyle.  Some of the more serious and dangerous conditions that develop under the surface as a direct result of the excessive weight include heart failure, chronic respiratory illness, blood pressure and cholesterol problems. All of these conditions, when ignored, can have lethal outcomes. When discussing weight loss, it is important to have a clear understanding of the factors that play a role in the development of the condition. While there are some individuals that may be able to point to hereditary and genetics being the primary causes, these cases are few and far between.

In most cases, the primary causes of the condition happen to be a lack of appropriate nutrition and a lack of adequate exercise. The lack of appropriate nutrition usually stems from the fact that we lead very hectic and busy lifestyles that see us rely heavily on the convenience of fast foods like hot dogs and burgers.

Although they are very tasty indeed, these foods distinctly lack any of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals that the body requires in order to function optimally. Moreover, the lack of adequate exercise means that there is no outlet and channel for the body to effectively burn these additional calories that are the result of over consumption of fast foods.

Given that obesity is such a global problem, some large companies have taken the initiative to develop diet plans in order to help their employees lose weight effectively and in a healthy way. The GM diet, developed by General Motors Inc. for their employees has received wide scale praise for the effectiveness of the diet plan that does not require an individual to restrict his or her intake of foods, but decides what foods he or she should eat over the course of the diet. The diet plan starts with the individual consuming nothing but fruits, vegetables and juices for the first few days and later incorporating meat intake for protein consumption finally resulting in a loss of about 10 pounds of additional weight in just one week’s time. One of the biggest benefits of the General motors diet lies in the fact that it is a short term diet plan that helps you lose a noticeable amount of weight when faced with time constraints. However, despite the short timeframe, the foods that the individual is required to consume ensures that he or she has taken the appropriate foods to ensure that the body continues to work in optimum fashion. One of the biggest disadvantages of the GM diet lies in the fact that it cannot be practiced extremely regularly as it is considered to be nothing more than a short term diet plan.

There are also a number of other diet plans that can be tried and tested such as the cabbage soup diet as well as the South Beach diet plan that are also effective short term weight loss programs. The benefits of the cabbage soup diet and the benefits of the south beach diet can be looked up through sources such as the internet if you are interested.
