These changes, however, are slight.


Also, the pills need to be taken in conjunction with proper diet and regular exercise. Many otc weight loss pills also lead to adverse side effects and hence may lead to health complications.

The main functions of weight loss pills are to boost metabolism, reduce appetite and burn fat. When metabolism increases, the body utilizes energy in the form of calories more quickly and this leads to shedding of weight. Because the pills also suppress the appetite, the individual is likely to consume fewer calories and hence weight gain is prevented. When the appetite is reduced, the body is also made to utilize stored fats for energy. Different types of weight loss pills contain different compounds which help to suppress appetite, block carbohydrates and burn calories. Some weight loss supplements contain the compound chitosan which is known to prevent absorption of fat. Other supplements may contain green tea or hoodia extract which are known to work as appetite suppressants. Those weight loss pills which are aimed at fat burning may contain combinations of pyruvate and hydroxycitric acid. Some also contain stimulants such as caffeine and ephedrine. The effectiveness of different pills differs from case to case. Some individuals may experience a positive effect, while others may experience no effect at all. Therefore it is difficult to say what is the best otc weight loss pill. There haven’t been many studies carried out on the functioning and effectiveness of weight loss supplements. Many supplements are sold without any scientific proof of their effects on weight loss. Such weight loss supplements carry highly exaggerated claims of being able to correct weight gain. These are also advertised widely and vigorously and a large number of people even buy these pills out of curiosity. However on closer look at the advertisements, one is likely to find a disclaimer in tiny print which states that the advertised effect many not be the typical result. Even if you do manage to find the best over the counter weight loss pill for your requirements, you still need to supplement it with a healthy, nutritious diet and proper exercise.

When deciding to use weight loss pills, one must keep in mind that many of these supplements can lead to side effects. The side effects may be mild or severe in nature. Some individuals complain of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating and indigestion after taking weight loss pills. Since many weight loss supplements do not have approval of the FDA, the more serious side effects may go undiscovered for years. Therefore it is important to consult a doctor before using any type of weight loss supplement.

But they may have side effects or create health complications at a later stage. After the course of these medications is over, you might regain your weight or gain even more weight than before.
