Diet Pills for Weight Loss Medicines can only be prescribed by a doctor who will arrive at a conclusion after checking your physical condition. Only if there is a need to control weight, through medication, will the doctor prescribe weight loss medicines accordingly. Please note however that most drugs used for controlling the weight have side effects, ranging from mild to serious complications. If you have a body mass index of over 30 may need to consult a doctor before taking any sort of medications. Medicines for weight loss are usually prescribed for a very short duration and are not recommended for long term use. These medications are usually appetite suppressants and usually come in tablets or capsules. Some common medications prescribed by doctors contain phentermine. Some weight loss medicines are also known as fat absorption inhibitors and in this class include xenical and mereidia. Then there are appetite suppressants that delude the body that it is not hungry and thus help to cause weight loss. Such appetite suppressants increase the serotonin or catecholamines which are two chemicals in the brain. Serotonin and catecholamine are responsible for affecting mood and appetite. Research is currently underway to discover new forms of drugs and treatments without side effects and these are likely to be available in the near future. |
