Diet with Low Calorie Shrimp RecipesListed below are some tempting low calorie shrimp recipes especially for shrimp lovers.Shrimp Pasta Salad RecipeIngredients:2 oz small shrimps, cooked 1 oz pasta shells, small ¼ cup cucumber, peeled and chopped ¼ cup tomatoes, seeded and chopped 1/8 cup black olives, chopped 1/8 cup red onion, chopped 1/8 cup fresh dill, chopped or half the amount of dried dill weed 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar ¼ cup reduced calories mayonnaise Method: Cook the pasta as per the directions on the packet. Drain to remove excess water. Then mix shrimps, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, black olive with pasta in a medium bowl. Whisk mayonnaise with vinegar and to the vegetable, shrimp and pasta mixture. Shrimp etouffee Ingredients: 2 oz medium shrimp, deveined and peeled 1 oz steam rice, plain 1 teaspoon butter 1 teaspoon all purpose flour ¼ cup red onion, chopped ¼ cup celery stock, finely chopped ¼ cup bell peppers, finely chopped 1 cup water 1/8 cup parsley, chopped 1 small clove garlic, minced ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes Method: Wash the peeled and deveined shrimps properly and keep it aside. Heat a sauce pan on a medium flame, add butter. Stir in the flour and sauté till butter and flour blend and give a light brown color. Remove from the heat once brown. Take a separate sauce pan to cook onions, garlic, celery, and bell peppers. Transfer the cooked vegetables in the pan with flour butter mixture. Mix well. Add red pepper, shrimps, parsley, and water and close the pan with a tightly fitted lid. After one boil simmer on low flame for 15 minutes or till the shrimps are cooked thoroughly. Serve the shrimp mixture over hot steamed rice. This recipe serves 1 and provides 230 calories and 6 gm fat. 5 spice shrimp Ingredients: 3 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined 1/8 cup white wine, dry 1 teaspoon olive oil, preferably extra virgin 1 garlic clove, sliced thinly Salt to taste Freshly ground black pepper to taste Method: Wash the peeled shrimp and devein it if needed. Do not trim the last section and tail. With the help of paper towels pat the shrimps dry. Lay them in a shallow plate and sprinkle salt, freshly ground black pepper and 5 spice powders. Toss well, so as the seasoning is well coated on the external surface of all shrimps. Heat a medium non stick frying pan and add olive oil to it. When the oil is hot add shrimps coated with the seasonings. Cook for 5 minutes stirring frequently till the shrimps curl and get a pink color. Now add garlic and stir constantly for few minutes. Pour white wine in the pan at this stage and cook till it is reduce to half in quantity. When the shrimps turn opaque and are cooked properly then transfer them in the serving plate. This recipe yields 1 serving and provides 120 calories and 8 gm fat. |
