Exercise Myths:There are many exercise myths which people think are true. You need to separate fact from fiction if you’re going to take full advantage of your exercise routine to meet your fitness goals. Here are some of the common exercise myths debunked: The focus of exercise is never the duration but the intensity. There are exercises which are high intensity and cannot be done for long. So even if you do them for a short while they are very effective. The faster you walk or run, the more calories you burn. However, you cannot perform high intensity exercises for a long time. So you should always start with lower intensity exercises and then gradually pick up the pace. Exercise is a waste of time if you don’t do it regularly. This is one notion which keeps people away from exercise. It is obvious that something is better than nothing. So even if you exercise rarely, it is still better than not exercising at all. Even if you can manage to exercise for just an hour a week or less, it is fine. Research has proven that people who exercise at least once a week are healthier than people who do not exercise at all. So no exercise is bad for you. Yoga is a completely safe form of exercise. Yoga is definitely a very safe and gentle form of exercise. However, there are few asanas (poses) which demand your careful attention. You can end up injuring yourself if you do them in the wrong manner. The best way to perform yoga is under the guidance of a trained instructor who can correct you when you when you do something wrong. Diet and exercise myths Fat is bad for you Contrary to the popular belief, good fat is essential for health. There are a few natural sources of fats found in nuts, avocados, and fish. This fat is good for health. Consuming a small portion of such good fats is essential in maintaining your health. You can eat as much as healthy food as possible. You won’t gain weight. Weight gain is a simple equation. If you eat more calories than you expend, you will gain weight. It does not matter if the calories come from healthy or unhealthy food sources. If you’re looking to gain weight, you need to restrict your calorie intake. Home exercise is good but a gym is best for exercise There is no such research which has proven that home exercise is not as good as compared to a gym. Any exercise is good if you do it regularly. |
