Medicinal herbs have been regarded as healthy sources of life by many people and now, the awareness it growing. This is because medicinal herbs have therapeutic properties, which are very helpful in healing various diseases and health conditions. In addition to that, these herbs are natural and therefore have fewer side effects, as compared to traditional medication. This is probably why there are several products in the market today, which claim to be completely natural, since they are made out of certain medicinal herbs. In fact, most of us use certain medicinal herbs in our day to day lives, while cooking, without even realizing it.
This list of medicinal herbs, which can be used in food includes garlic, basil, mint, rosemary, sage and parsley.

  • Lavender: This herb has antiseptic properties and at the same time, it is used as a calming agent in aroma therapy. Lavender oil, when applied to the wrists or temples can help deal with conditions such as insomnia and headaches. If lavender is mixed with other medicinal herbs, such as rosemary, it can also help cure acne and other skin conditions.
  • Marjoram: This is a soothing and balancing herb, which has calming and sedative properties. It is often used in the form of an essential oil too for certain conditions, such as blood pressure, respiratory illnesses, digestive problems and headaches.
  • Wormwood: When mixed with other medicinal herbs plants, wormwood can help treat problems such as irritable bowel syndrome and gastric distress. However, there are certain side effects associated with this herb, which is why it should not be used for a long period of time.

There are many Chinese medicinal herbs that are also commonly used by people to deal with problems, such as hair loss, acne, infertility, asthma and obesity.

While many of these herbs are easily available in most health stores, there are people who prefer growing medicinal herbs, especially if they plan or need to use the herbs for a longer period of time.

There are certain side effects that have been associated with certain medicinal herbs. Therefore, it is best to consult a doctor or an herbalist for using any herb.
