Juices for Convalescence and Coronary Thrombosis

What is Convalescence? In general, convalescence refers to the period of rest following a serious illness or surgery. During this stage, a person’s body recovers from the illness or surgery and rebuilds itself in order to retain normalcy.

Care during Convalescence. Diet and nutrition play a central role during convalescence.

It has been noticed that the person’s appetite suffers considerably during convalescence. Hence, care should to be taken to ensure that the person consumes appetite stimulating foods. In particular, cauliflower, mashed potatoes and asparagus are most suited during the initial period as they are easy on the digestive system. Since this phase involves tissue regeneration, maximum emphasis should be laid on foods that are rich in protein.

Juices during Convalescence. Since nutrition is important during convalescence, fresh fruit and vegetable juices form an integral part of the diet. This is because they are easy to assimilate and are rich sources of concentrated nutrients. For instance, fresh carrot juice, which helps to fight infection, and spinach juice, which is an excellent source of folic acid, are ideal during convalescence. In particular, since spinach juice is packed with vitamins and minerals especially iron and vitamin K, it promotes the rebuilding of blood. Another juice that is highly beneficial during convalescence is red beet juice. A good source of iron, it helps in production of hemoglobin. Since appetite is most affected during convalescence, black currant juice is ideal as it stimulates the appetite. For tiredness and fatigue, a common complaint during convalescence, a glass of celery juice should be effective.

Juices for Coronary Thrombosis Treatment

What is coronary thrombosis? Any blood clot in a blood vessel is called thrombus. When this blood clot occurs in the arteries of the heart, it is known as coronary thrombosis. One of the major leading causes of coronary thrombosis is poor diet and lifestyle.

Symptoms. Thrombosis symptoms are considerably general and can vary among people. However, the most obvious symptom is cramping pain in the chest, often mistaken for indigestion. Shortness of breath and isolated pain in one leg are some of the other symptoms.

Other types. When clots occur in the vein it is known as vein thrombosis or venous thrombosis; clots occurring in deep-lying veins is called deep vein thrombosis. Another type is known as arterial thrombosis, which refers to clot formation in an artery, obstructing blood flow.

Juices for treatment. While thrombosis treatment usually involves anticoagulant drugs and other forms of medical treatment, diet also plays a critical role. Recent research has indicated that grape juice or wine help in the prevention of heart diseases in general. In particular, they contain certain flavonoids that prevent blood platelets from attaching themselves to one another, thereby preventing the formation of clots. Beet juice is rich is iron and also extremely beneficial for the blood. Tomato juice is considered to improve heart conditions as it is a source of vitamin C and carotene. Other fruits that are helpful in relation to heart diseases are apples, Indian gooseberries, and oranges.
