The Cabbage Soup Diet

Cabbage is considered a negative calorie food; that is the calories required to digest the food is greater than the calories which the food supply. Cabbage soup diet is a very low calorie diet and as the name suggests in a cabbage soup diet you can include as much cabbage soup as you like, lots of water daily along with the certain additional foods each day. 

Brighter shades 

Quick weight loss, good break from junk food diet, affordable, easy to follow, little cooking required.

Darker shades

- Weight loss is temporary basically from loss of water and muscle tissue of the body and no fat reserves.
- To follow the cabbage soup diet, a person requires lot of dedication and adherence.
- Cabbage soup diet is deficient in proteins, essential fats, carbohydrates and certain vitamins and minerals (not nutritionally sound).

Cabbage soup diet recipe  

This is a basic recipe for the soup; however you can make your own recipe including these ingredients that shall please your taste buds.
½ head cabbage
2 tomatoes or tinned tomatoes
2 green onions 
1 green pepper 
½ head celery 
1 carrot
Chop all the vegetables in small pieces and simmer in water till done. Season it with salt, pepper, garlic or garlic powder and onion powder.

If you like it in mashed form then you could even blend it. 

The diet plan is a bit difficult to follow as the combination of foods is such that you might end up starving and reduce metabolism. There is a strict ‘NO’ for alcohol, bread and carbonated beverages.

Day 1 – You can have cabbage soup and all fruits except bananas.
Day 2 – Cabbage soup, all the vegetables, baked potato with butter and salt.
Day 3 – Cabbage soup, all vegetables and fruits (except potato and bananas).
Day 4 – Cabbage soups, unlimited skim milk and up to 8 bananas.
Day 5 – Cabbage soup, up to six tomatoes and 15-20 ounce of beef.
Day 6 – Cabbage soup, beef and vegetables as much you want (except potatoes).
Day 7 – Cabbage soup, vegetables (except potatoes), brown rice and unsweetened fruit juice.
 
In a nutshell cabbage soup diet is a low-fat, high-fiber diet which can form a short route for your weight loss goal, but should be followed under the guidance of a specialist and not for more than 7 days. Cabbage soup diet is indeed not a solution for a long term healthy eating plan.
