Junk Food Facts: There are several foods that are very unhealthy but extremely delicious. These are the foods that we hate to love because we know that they are bad for our health and can cause weight gain, obesity, and other ailments. The junk food industry has grown exponentially in the past few decades. The industry is booming because it gets more and more consumers with the passing years. Today not just kids and teenagers, but adults too love junk food.

Burgers, doughnuts, fries, candies and many such foods are favorites with people despite the fact that they are harmful to one's body and health.

Junk Food Effects: Junk food is known to cause a lot of disorders as well as diseases in the long run. Diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems and gastrointestinal diseases are some of the adverse effects of junk food.

Another effect of junk food is obesity which is known to cause major health complications as well as reduces one's life span. Most people find it very difficult to resist these foods and hence these foods can also become addictions. Quite a lot of people feel powerless when it comes to eating junk food.

Junk food is easily accessible and also tasty.

When trying to resist junk food or getting rid of its addiction, one must not try to make drastic changes in their existing diet. Whatever changes are to be made must be made gradually. Fries and chips must be the first food to be eliminated from a regular diet.

Make one change at a time. If you make too many changes at once, there is a high possibility that you will not be able to stick to your diet. Plan a dietary regime and follow it. Keep a diet diary. It will help you keep a track on what and how much are you eating, and will also keep a track on the progress that you have made. If you give in to the urge of entering a fast food joint, then order one of the healthier foods options on the menu. Fast food joints have started providing salads and grilled chicken sandwiches. Opt for these instead of anything full of cheese.

Include whole wheat breads and low fat turkey and other such healthier foods in your meals. Keep sliced fruits or dry fruits handy. Instead of having two or three large meals a day, have one large meal and three or four small snacks from time to time. Lastly, remember that you can’t give up all your bad food habits overnight. It will take some time and also a lot of patience.
