Foods To Avoid For Thrush Treatment

Thrush is a fungal infection that is medically known as candidiasis. Candidiasis is a condition where the mucus membranes become infected with the candida family of fungus. Thrush affects the oral cavity and is also known as oral thrush. A thick whitish deposit is seen on the mucus membranes inside the mouth. When this is scraped off, the area under it is reddish and looks like a rash.
Removing the deposit might also cause bleeding in an affected person. Thrush can all people but risk groups include new born babies, people with hormonal imbalances, smokers and those suffering from a compromised immune system caused by any illness or by AIDS.
Candida Treatment Diet
: Thrush must be treated medically and you should visit your doctor and follow the course of medication prescribed to you.
However, you can improve your speed of recovery by changing your
diet
to one that is suited to
thrush infections
. Unfortunately a diet like this is extremely restricted in the foods that one is allowed to consume. Fungi thrive on sweet foods which is why you might notice the development of fungus on sweet food that is left outside a refrigerator.
Therefore, such foods should be eliminated from your diet. These include sweets, chocolates, fruits and fruit juices. Processed foods are also not recommended.
You must avoid processed cereals as well. Bread is made using yeast cultures and therefore should be avoided by someone suffering from a yeast based infection such as thrush. Soft drinks and alcohol should be avoided as well. These tend to contain high level of sugar which should not be included in your diet when you are suffering from thrush.
On the other side of the scale are some foods that you can eat during your infection.
Candida treatment diet
should include foods like onions and garlic. Lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage and sprouts are also allowed. Most food that is high in fiber is allowed during this period. Whole grain foods are allowed to be consumed during this period. Nuts and legumes are also mostly permitted. A plus point during thrush diet is that you can consume regular quantities of meat which contain animal protein. Turmeric is an antifungal and anti bacterial condiment that can be added to your food to boost the fight against thrush. You can even gargle with turmeric water when you are suffering from thrush. Dairy products are also not banned, and therefore you can have a breakfast cereal with whole grains and low fat milk.
