Making Ends Meet- Ways to Stay Sane and healthy While Working Two Jobs a Time

Submitted by Loring A. Windblad on June 17, 2010

One of the sad things about trying to work two jobs to get by is that you are almost working all of your working life. This can have some profound impacts on your psychological and physiological well-being. One of the first things that tend to give way is the mind that ends up being fatigued because of the continuous working regime. It is therefore important that you change your life perspective to ensuring that you get out of your current situation and take up one better paying job. This may not happen immediately but when you aim to that objective, your daily rigors will seem more fruitful and you will actually feel like you are working towards something and not just existing. Remember to thrive and not just survive.

It is one of the biggest myths that you need to indulge in a certain kind of lifestyle to ensure that you are able to relax your body, commensurate with the amount of work you put in. This can lead people to habits like alcohol consumption, smoking, and even indulging in drugs. Note that these are all poisonous to your body and you will just end up being more fatigued and be staring down the barrel of substance abuse. It is instead better to indulge in some kind of sport because vigorous exercise gives one the same high as being on intoxicants.

The next part to take care of is the diet. Don’t indulge in meals that are junk food. This means reducing the amount of fat and red meat that you consume and instead indulge in more sea food or soy-based food.

If this is too expensive an option, then you should instead just indulge in eggs and a lot of vegetables in your diet. Dairy is the next part of this equation and must be consumed every day but not in the form of cheese and butter. The last part of ensuring well-being is to ensure that you get eight hours of sleep every day at a stretch.

This is very crucial to ensuring that your body is in good condition to face the rigors of the day and of two jobs. Most of the body’s healing and detoxification occurs during this time and some crucial hormones that are secreted in the body during sleep are responsible for this action. Ensure that you are also able to follow your body clock and sleep before midnight.
