Low Cholesterol Heart Healthy Foods
Submitted by Serena Mason on July 19, 2010
With the increasing focus on the very serious problem of
obesity
, a number of people are becoming ever more aware of the dangers that the condition causes. Not only is the impact of obesity aesthetically prominent, it completely destroys the quality of life that an individual leads. Problems such as joint pain, back pain, difficulty in breathing as well as a significant reduction in the speed with which a person can react are only some of the physical problems that creep up. The emotional problems can be more significant and affect the individuals psyche and personality substantially. There are two primary avenues to leading a healthier lifestyle.
One is to make sure that your body gets the right kind of nourishment to make sure that its
resources of nutrients
and
vitamins
are constantly replenished while the other is to make sure that the body gets enough
exercise
– so as to make sure that any excess calories that have been consumed are easily burned to maintain the muscle to fat ratio in the body at a healthier level. The best and most effective method, however, lies in combining these two methods – make sure that you eat the right kinds of food while also affording your body the right kind of exercise.
Focusing on
heart healthy foods
is a good way to stay protected against the threat of heart disease – one of the most prominent killers in today’s world.
However, simply making sure that you consume the right kind of food is not enough and leading a healthier life will mean adapting your daily habits to a healthier lifestyle. To elaborate, it makes no sense to concentrate on the health of your heart by eating the right food and getting regular exercise if you continue to smoke and/or consume alcohol on a regular basis. When it comes to a Low cholesterol
heart healthy foods list
blueberries are considered to be at the top.
Blueberries
contain a few anthocyanins – which is the antioxidant present that is primarily responsible for its color. Blueberries are full of fiber and vitamin C and should be incorporated into your daily diet for best results.
Salmon
is a very
good source of protein
and contains substantial amounts of beneficial
omega 3 fatty acids
.
The best part is that it can be incorporated into a number of delicious recipes – which would mean that including it in a regular diet shouldn’t be too hard.
