Creative Food Ideas

April 25, 2011

Daily meals can either be a joy or it can be a boring and monotonous process. If your culinary skills are particularly limited to a few dishes, repeating these over and over can become dull. It becomes especially dull for your children, as children tend to be fussy about the food they like to eat. However, you can solve this problem by trying some interesting creative food ideas.

In order to continue feeding your family with healthy and nutritious foods, you may have to resort to some creative ideas in order to get them interested in eating. The first idea that you can use is that of garnishing.

This works particularly well with baked dishes. A meal that contains a baked dish is likely to be high in proteins and carbohydrates. However, these dishes may suffer from a lack of vegetables which reduce their vitamin and mineral content. It also means your food may lack some essential dietary fiber.

Often if you are having a baked pie or quiche you can garnish this with various vegetables. A baked dish garnished with tomatoes and olives not only looks good but allows you to quietly slip these foods into the diet of your family. Another dish that you can add vegetables to is your regular pizza.

By adding some tasty and healthy vegetables you can make the pizza better to taste as well as make it healthier.

A particularly good tip for parents who struggle to feed their kids with vegetables is to make a design out of various vegetables. Some cook books will offer you ideas on making a design of the human skeleton using carrots, pickles, and any other vegetable that is long and straight to fill in various parts of the body.  While this is still a vegetable dish, your kids will be more excited to eat it than otherwise.

A tip for more skilled cooks is to food or fruit carving.

This is one way that will surely bring some cheer to an otherwise gloomy meal. A particularly favorite fruit to carve is the watermelon. You can slice off a quarter of the watermelon and carve in interesting design in the remaining three quarters. Designs and patterns are available on the internet.

Finally, if you are completely bored of your cooking, you can try some new cuisines. Cookbooks will help you explore new cuisines and new ingredients to spice up your mealtime experience.
