Submitted by Sharon Hopkins on March 21, 2012

Hair and skin disorders and problems are quite common these days. Pollution and urban lifestyles play a big role in our lives and can be very damaging to our bodies. Hair and skin are the first indicators of an unhealthy lifestyle. You can use natural hair and skin care treatment methods to prevent further damage. You will find that hair and skin care is very easy with simple home remedies.

Causes & Remedies For Hair Skin Disorders

One of the main causes of hair problems is a reduced keratin production.

Keratin is a fibrous protein and it is the key structural material of our hair and skin. Several herbs are believed to have keratin increasing properties. Some of the common herbs used to improve hair growth are aloe vera, arnica, parsley, catmint, birch, and mulberry.

You could also use licorice, rosemary, marigold, nettles, and sage. Many of these herbs can also be used to improve skin health. A combination of honey, chamomile and aloe can help to improve hair color and skin tone.

Natural Care For Healthy Hair & Skin

Certain herbs like lime flowers, horsetail, calendula, and goose grass can be used to prepare a hair tonic that provides luster and body to your hair. A topical application made out of parsley, rosemary, sage, southernwood, stinging nettles and watercress can be used to treat hair and skin disorders. A warm oil massage with olive oil or coconut oil will help to promote healthy hair and skin.

You can also use intense nourishment hair packs like applying homemade mayonnaise to your hair before washing it off. This simple hair pack is extremely nourishing and can be used as a deep moisturizer for your skin and scalp. Diluted cider vinegar is another great remedy from the kitchen that can make your hair shine.

Natural skin care is very easy to follow and most of these treatments require ingredients that are present in your kitchen. Sesame or olive oil is a great emollient for the skin and so you can use it as a moisturizer. You can make your own facial scrub out of ground oatmeal and almonds and a few spoons of honey. Rinse your face with warm water and then apply a generous amount of this face scrub to your face. Massage your skin gently for several minutes and then rinse your face well with warm water. The oatmeal and honey helps to nourish your skin while the ground almonds moisturize your skin. Mashed bananas with honey are a great moisturizer. Soak a small cotton ball in fresh tomato juice and rub it gently across your skin as tomato juice acts as a great natural astringent. Mashed avocado with full fat milk is a great home remedy for dry skin. Mix equal amounts of virgin coconut oil and peanut oil. Add a few drops of jojoba oil to this blend and then mix in a few spoons of sugar. Massage your entire body with this mixture before your shower.  This mixture acts as an effective scrub, removing all dead cells and revealing the lower layer of skin.

You should follow a balanced diet, with salads, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and fruits as this will help to reduce your risk of hair and skin problems. Yogurt and yogurt-based products, whole grain foods, fish, and nuts will promote healthy hair growth and so they should be included in your daily diet plan. Make sure that you follow a balanced diet plan that contains adequate minerals and vitamins. This will promote skin health and give your skin a healthy glow.
