Ways to Burn Calories

How Many Calories Does 1 Pound of Muscle Burn? What should be my diet if i want to burn one pound of muscle daily
(May 26, 2010)

It is a well known fact that all of us have different metabolisms and as such burn up the calories that we consume at different rates. If, for example, we have consumed 2000 calories in a day and have managed to burn the same amount – that is 2000 calories, then our weight will remain the same. But if we have consumed 3000 calories in a day but have burned off only 2000 calories, then we will definitely start putting on weight. Therefore, it is very necessary that we burn all the calories that we consume throughout the day. One sure way of ensuring this is to include a well-planned exercise regime to your daily life.

Your exercise regime should be planned in such a way that it helps increase the amount of muscles in your body. The reason why you should do that is because for every pound of muscle that you add to your body, your body uses another 50 more calories to perform this task. This will in turn increase your basal metabolic rate by at least 15 per cent. This is the rate at which your body burns calories without doing anything at all. The reason why your basal metabolic rate increases is because muscles are generally much more active than the other body tissues. Apart from this, on an average, 30 per cent of our calories are burnt when we perform our daily activities. But if your work is sedentary, then you will have to look for ways to burn those calories. You will have to try and keeping around as much as you can to burn those calories.

Eating spicy food tends to increase your metabolic rate by at least 50 percent, at least for the next 3 hour of you consuming a spicy meal. Green tea and any drinks that contain caffeine have the same effect. However, if you want to build your muscles, then you need to consume more calories than what you can burn. But instead of letting it get converted into calories, you have to make sure that these extra calories are converted into muscles. What is the amount of calories that you need to consume in this situation is something that you should determine by consulting a qualified dietician, especially if you are undergoing a rigorous muscle building regime. Depending on the amount of calories that you can consume, you can develop a diet chart that your diet includes a healthy amount of proteins as this will help you to build your muscles as well as burn those calories.
