Lose Weight Laughing

I'm a member of Laughter club, will it help me in weight loss also?

It is known that laughter can help improve the well being of humans, physically as well as mentally. Laughter clubs use the laughter therapy which is a method which uses natural physiological process of laughter to deal with or to release painful emotions, fears, anxiety and boredom. Study shows that laughter can not only help one deal with one’s emotional self and for overall heath, but it can also help burn calories. A healthy bout of laughter can burn as much as 1.3 calories per minute. There are also other benefits of laughter therapy.


Laughter decreases the release of stress hormones. It helps relax the muscles, facial as well as abdominal. It increases the levels of dopamine in the body which gives humans a sense of well being. Thus it prevents anxiety disorders, depression as well as helps against insomnia. Clinical studies have also shown that laughter helps strengthening the immune system. It can help reduce the sensation of pain or rather helps people forget pain such as aches or arthritis. It is also said that that a belly laughter is equivalent to an internal jog. It can also help preventing hypertension and can also help people suffering from hypertension. Frequent belly laughter can improve respiration. It is known to be equivalent to deep breathing because every time we laugh we inhale more oxygen than we normally do.

Laughter is also known to be helpful for the circulatory system. It increases and improves circulation and increases the delivery of oxygen throughout the body. It is known that laughter helps burn calories. Although laughter helps burn calories, it is always that one follows it along with regular exercising, a healthy balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Especially if one wants to lose weight, it is advised that one should not only rely on laughter therapy because laughter burns very little amount of calories and it also depends on the longevity of your laughter. Also for a healthy body, one needs to exercise so that the muscles get well toned. However, laughter helps one and all. It gives people a sense of well being and reduces the stress which we all face in our day to day life.
